Other Information

  • Driven by a passion for improving the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, I pursued further education by completing my Masters degree. Focused on positive risk-taking, person-centredness, choice, and advocacy, my dissertation, titled 'A Descriptive Quantitative Exploration of Choice in the Lives of Older Adults with Intellectual Disabilities in Ireland,' used data from Wave 3 of the IDS-TILDA study. The study revealed that older individuals with developmental disabilities often experience low levels of choice, particularly those with communication difficulties. Armed with this insight, I integrated enhanced communication methods, including creating Easy Read documents, in my role as Senior Supervisor and Day Service Lead to empower individuals with developmental disabilities in making informed choices.
  • I hold a Full Clean Class 5 Driving License.

Accomplishments

  • Received an award for achieving the highest end of year mark at distinction level in M.Sc. in Ageing Health and Wellbeing in Intellectual Disability.
  • My thesis was presented at the Trinity Health & Education International Research Conference (THEconf2022) in March 2022.
