Sprockids is an instructional program designed to engage young people, ages 6 to 18 years, in mountain biking. Cycling provides a positive focus for youth, develops self-esteem, provides kids with a strong sense of community, and introduces them to a healthy active lifestyle.

After taking HKR 2100 and receiving a mark of an A I was able to successfully complete the course which allowed me to become excel certified.

After completing my Sprockids training I was offered a position that would help young girls participate in active living using bikes. With this we lead young girls through the training that we acquired to show them bike safety and how to properly handle mountain bikes.

After being voted to become the BPE rep for the Human Kinetics and Recreation society committee I take on responsibilities such as being a voice for my degree program along with relaying important information to the students in BPE. With this, as a committee we organize fundraisers and other such events for the school of HKR.

The PLAY Project (Physical Literacy for All Youth) is part of an experiential learning experience for courses in Physical Education in the School of Human Kinetics and Recreation to provide opportunities for young children and their guardians to explore movement activities. With this I would help set up and dismantle the gymnasium for these sessions all while getting the opportunity to observe and interact with young children in a movement environment.
