A few years ago while an assistant store Manager at Walmart I decided to try retirement as my wife was retiring after 41 years of nursing at Trail Regional Hospital. I missed work too much and went back to work as a regular associate in the photo lab. At the time of my retirement Trail Mayor Mike Martin a former General Manager of Teck Trail wrote me the following letter.
On behalf of Trail City Council, I wish to congratulate you and Annie on the special occasion of your respective retirements. What an exciting day for both of you.
After being one of the original employees at the Trail Walmart store, you have obviously had a huge impact on the success of that business. It must have been quite exciting for you to be part of the store's expansion. The esteem with which you are held by the management and associates was most evident during the opening celebrations that you so capably emceed.
We hope that retirement will free up more time for you to dedicate to the many activities you enjoy so much. The volunteer spirit that is so prevalent in Trail is what makes this community such a special place to live. Your photography collections that you have shared showcase beautifully our many gardens, landmarks and the people who live here. Thank you for capturing these moments in our community to be enjoyed by others for years to come. Your long time and many contributions to the Communities in Bloom committee and other civic endeavours are also truly appreciated.
We wish you and your wife, Annie , continued good health and happiness as you both enjoy your retirement years.
Regards
Mike Martin
Mayor
