My responsibilities with the job include but are not limited to:
- Being first or last in the building which consists of starting up or shutting down all equipment ie: drags, elevators, air compressors, pumps, pellet/hammer mills etc.
- Troubleshooting production problems in a timely manner to ensure necessary loads are ready on time
- Solving problems with equipment, computers, and general mix-ups appropriately and also in a timely manner
- Recording data for production throughout shift
- Operating forklift when necessary
- Ensuring other operators are doing their job correctly and efficiently
My responsibilities at this occupation consisted of:
- Operating 2 large bailing machines that shred straw bales into approximately 11-15 individually sealed bags of about 25-30lbs to then be stacked on a pallet and wrapped for customers
- Leading a 4-5 operator shift and ensuring production was completed before the end of the shift
- Independently troubleshooting some electrical or hardware problems
- Operating a skidsteer inside and outdoors refilling baling machines with straw to ensure production doesn't come to an unnecessary stop.
- Occasional maintenance such as replacing dust bags, cleaning out augers and refueling equipment when necessary or when production was slow
