  • I worked with supervisors and general foreman to plan and schedule day to day weld shop and dragline and shovel PM’s as well as plan major outages
  • This included long range planning and budgeting
  • I was responsible for coordinating contractors, parts and mine personnel and work scope so that many jobs could be performed simultaneously
  • As a supervisor I was responsible for promoting a safety orientated environment and assigning employees the planned work and to meet expected completion time which included approving time off according to workload and terms in the CBA
  • Some of the jobs I supervised were major dragline outages, dragline bucket rebuilds, dragline jewelry rebuilds, loader and excavator bucket rebuilds, dozer and hauler frame repairs along with many other mining related fabrication and repair needs
  • I was also responsible to order shop materials and consumables to make sure the employees had access to the proper tooling/PPE to complete requested work.

  • As a dragline oiler I was responsible for the running maintenance of the machine by checking lube systems and monitoring gear case and bearing temperatures as well as investigating any potential sounds or issues that came up to provide the maintenance department good information to determine the best plan for repair or inspection
  • I also assisted with maintenance and shutdown work on the dragline
  • As an operator I was responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the dragline to meet production and mechanical targets set by the company
  • I have experience on BE 1570, 2570, P&H 2355 and 9020 draglines.

  • As a welder I was assigned to many aspects of dragline, shovel and other heavy mining equipment repairs
  • Tasks included were to safely perform minor repairs on equipment to major structural repairs and rebuilds
  • This includes performing boom repairs to shovels and draglines as per procedure as well as frame repairs
  • I have much experience in rebuilding loader, excavator, shovel and dragline buckets and have setup and monitored Cooper-heat systems
  • I have rebuilt dragline jewelry as well as rebuild various consumable parts in effort to prolong life expectancy
  • I often gouged bushings and bearings from bores and then if required would weld up bores using both manual and semi-automated techniques (bore-tech)
  • I have much experience removing pins from bores using a Lance
  • This work often involved working side by side with machinists, mechanics and millwrights which helped me to gain much knowledge in the mechanical repair of heavy mining equipment
  • I often had to think outside the box in an effort to get equipment back up for a short time until parts and further repairs could be planned and executed
  • I am experienced in operating an overhead crane and safely rigging very large and heavy objects to be worked on.
