  • My first season as an apprentice detailed to our home unit engines. I participated in Wildland fire suppression on local and out of region fires, Maintenance of our Refuge complex, Prescribed Fire, Chainsaw usage and maintenance, Rx burn prep, daily PT, Water pump operator on our type 6 engine, Wildland fire First aid classes.
  • My second year in the apprentice program I detailed with Teton Helitack with the Bridger-Teton/Teton National Park Interagency crew. I spent 9 months with this crew and went on 10 fire assignments. I was able to learn the ins and outs of not only short haul operations, but also fire suppression, cargo and crew transport during my time there. I was able to become a qualified HECM as well.
  • My 3rd season as an apprentice I completed the advanced academy, as well as became a qualified IC5 and currently Engine Boss trainee. I have taken on more of a leadership role this year, working the opposite schedule of our only engine captain and running the crew on my schedule. I have completed my hours for the apprenticeship program and currently working on transferring over to a GW-6.

  • Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills: I was on a Type 2 IA 20-man hand crew with the DNR in WA state. I was tasked with fire suppression, hose lays, RX burning, conducting hand-line, mopping up, reading the weather on large fires, a look-out on multiple fires, as well as a human repeater on a type 2 fire. Crew cohesion is big for me as well. living with 20 people helped me develop those skills to make sure crew morale was a top priority.

Additional information:

I have been an avid outdoorsman my entire life, from hiking to fishing. I believe with my love for the outdoors, fitness level, and ability to work with a team, I would be able to have a successful time in this area of work if I am given the chance.
