Summary

I'd summarize my professional background as long term and ongoing construction/landscaping experience, sprinkled with a wide range of side jobs or inbetween jobs as outlined on my resume, and over time my focus became the film industry, while currently I am looking for something that provides more stability than the film industry does. Moving forward I plan to keep my film, concert work as a part time endeavor (weekends ideally) while working a stable job. I am open minded to my next line of work and I am seeing what is out there.

    • Various employers through the IATSE 891 and ACFC Film Unions
    • Assisted road crews (the roadies) in concert and event set up (Megadeth, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jordan Peterson, Beyonce, Cold Play, PNE etc.)
    • Setup of everything from the audio systems, the stage, animatronics, lighting and so on
    • Frequent use of drills and wrenches

Lighting Technician

  • Various employers through the IATSE 118 Live Entertainment Union
  • Replaced commercial sign lights (Subway, Mac's etc.)
  • Installed commercial lights in condos, parkades etc.
  • On set film industry lighting on movies aka operating the lights during filming, including set up and maintenance
  • Behind the scenes film lighting such as running power from generators to the various lights and equipment on set and in studio. Installing DMX style data systems. Rigging lights and cables above head and so on.
  • Additionally occasional work in the grip department where I operated camera dollies, installed over head rigging, car rigs etc.
  • Sometimes supervised up to a dozen people while rigging up to 5 soundstages (studio builds)

  • Work ranged from basic labour, to concrete, to form work, framing

My interests are hockey, making art, writing etc.

I played hockey growing up fairly seriously including rep teams, AAA, Junior. I also played for my province. It's still a hobby of mine and I follow the NHL more than most people. I make art such as diorama's and paintings. I have been working on screenplays as well as some novels and one day I hope to sell them. I'd say my goal in the movie industry was always to sell my own screenplays.
