• Responsible for responding to Dig Alert tickets and marking and identifying underground gas and electric lines in the areas requested by contractors and/or homeowners, etc.
• Required to be computer-efficient in order to use the GIS mapping system to correctly mark and identify underground gas and electric lines.
• Work directly with contractors and homeowners to determine delineated work areas, and to negotiate marking schedules.
• Work closely with SDG&E Gas Crews and Electric Crews to assist with emergencies and routine work.
• Locator is the foreman of each job performed which requires being responsible for working with Traffic Control and Stand By Lineman on certain jobs and maintaining a safe work environment.
• Required to respond to all emergencies including gas leaks, broken gas lines, outages, damaged electrical structures, water main breaks and more.
• Work directly with Service Planners when requested to mark underground gas and electric services to assist with placement of new services or redesigning of existing services.
• On-Call 24/7
• Required to drive company vehicle home in order to respond to emergencies when outside of normal work hours.
