I provided a comprehensive school counseling program that supported students in the areas of academic achievement, career and college planning, and social and emotional well-being. I also managed a team of MFT interns, social workers, and counselors, and was a member of the school Positive Behavior Interventions & Support team.
I participated in a program to reinvent an elementary school. As a sixth-grade teacher at a New Tech Network school, I received extensive training in 21st-century learning and project-based learning (PBL). Some highlights were: writing and receiving a grant that provided the school with a $100,000 fitness room, and creating a "Park in a School," a beautification project using PBL.
With a team, I created an extensive academic counseling program for students at Quimby and Chaboya Middle Schools. The program included family conferences, parent workshops, classroom presentations, after-school tutoring programs, and field trips to local colleges.
I began my teaching career at Katherine Smith School. Working here for many years I gained invaluable experience working with English Language Learners and their families, working with at-risk students, and collaborating with specialists to design Individual Education Programs for special needs students.
