Communication Technician Job Description
Responsibilities for communication technician
- Diagnose, isolate, and correlate system problems, establish priorities, dispatch personnel, and work with peers, associates, clients, and other agencies to meet service levels and insure reliability of the communication network
- Determine network and client impact, and make notifications to relevant parties
- Contact internal and external organizations to prepare planned maintenance programs, schedule outages, inform them of system problems and/or coordinate repair activities
- Expedite or escalate issues as necessary
- Create and maintain logs, reports, trouble tickets, and procedures
- Work from drawings, specifications, manufacturers' manuals and instructions to construct, test, operate, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment
- Supervise technicians as required
- Works to build an effective partnership with the customer on a daily basis
- Responsible for radio installation, removal and repairs to ensure full operational capability
- Uses electronic equipment to verify through preventative maintenance procedures that communications equipment is fully operable and mechanically secure
