Ashley Penney

Highly motivated student-athlete with a B.Sc. with a major in biology (honours) and a minor in psychology. Beginning a Master of Applied Health Services Research in the fall of 2025. Eager to apply strong leadership and analytic skills learned during time at Saint Mary’s University to continue education to pursue a career in the healthcare field.

5 year USPORT Academic All-Canadian recipient. Awarded the AUS Marion Hilliard Community Service Award for outstanding academics, athletics and community service for the 2024-2025 hockey season. Awarded the SMU Huskies Presidents Award for Excellence in 2024-25 as well. Recipient of the SMU Faculty Union Gold Scholarship for academic achievement as well as the Bob Warner Scholarship for leadership.

Gained experience with lab techniques such as PCR as well as literature review, data analysis, and thesis writing skills.

Irving Entrepreneurship Center, Halifax, NS, 2025-05-01, Worked with a group of undergraduate students over 5 weeks to research best-in-class frameworks to improve the healthcare system for seniors living in NS.
