Foster Care Program:

• Conducts evaluations and assessments of Foster home applicants in accordance with AOPSI Standards and Child, Family and Community Service Act;
• evaluating the needs of children to be in place in the Foster home in accordance with established policies;
• Matches children with appropriate Foster Homes;
• Recruits, advertises and actively promotes the Foster Home Program;
• Maintains regular contact with Foster families providing support, counselling, and resources to foster parents and foster families to help them deal with the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and cultural needs of the children in their care;
• Provides a variety of training to Foster parents before providing care, while providing care to enhance skills throughout their role as foster parents to develop strong skills for dealing with children in care;
• Uses telephone calls, supervised visits and unannounced visits to Foster care homes to assess suitability and competence of providers;
• Makes referrals to outside agencies or for resources to assist all parties;
• Mediates and resolves problems within Foster care homes by listening to issues and providing advice and guidance;
• Ensures appropriate documentation regarding foster families is promptly written and filed appropriately;
• Liaises with internal staff, other agencies and communities and recommend changes and enhancements toto care services or delivery methods;
• Participates regularly in team meeting to effectively offer integrated, multi-disciplinary and effective services for all children;
• Acts as a positive role model to clients, their families, caregivers and community members;
• Other duties as assigned or required.

Case Management:

• Monitors and evaluates progress towards established goals and coordinates services and responsibilities of other resources;
• Attends Child Protection meetings;
• Provides support and acts as a resource to Foster Care Homes;
• Ensures that the program is being provided as outlined in con tract and meets standard set in policy;
• Provides information to Child Protection supervisor to assist in contract renewals;
• Respects the families need for privacy and the right of confidentiality.
