Armando Herrera

Started out working behind concessions at the POS and scanning tickets at the doors. After a month was also taught how to work at the bar on location. I was then promoted to House Manager, in which it is my responsibility to coordinate volunteers and staff across front of house to meet the needs for the theater that day. I also have to communicate with other departments, and manage large crowds to get the show started on time. Other responsibilities include ushering, typing up reports, collecting sales numbers, handling cash, working on Tessitura, managing inventory, restocking, solving any costumer service issues, training new staff, and setting up/managing third party events in our theater.

Worked at the movie theater Regal Cinemas with various responsibilities from working the register to creating movie schedules and approving payroll. I also handled money, did maintenance around the building on projectors and sound boards, coordinated staff, placed product orders, restocked inventory, and multiple computer tasks such as uploading media files to projectors. Was promoted after working as floor staff. Was also offered the role of Assistant General Manager but declined to pursue a job at BRT.

Worked at a Japanese restaurant. I learned to work all over the restaurant from frying various types of tempura, making various types of musubi and soup bases, making dough from scratch, cutting and cooking the noodles, to washing and restocking dishes as well as working as a cashier and busser. My work ethic got me an offer as supervisor not too long into my employment.

Worked for an organization which strives towards providing equal educational opportunities for children across America. I worked at the preschool Las Americas where I would have meaningful interactions with children, giving lessons and facilitating activities I created. This was in parallel with classes centered around early childhood development that set me up for success in the classroom.

Volunteered at the Gentle Barn, a non-profit organization that rescues and gives sanction to abused and neglected animals. Spoke to hundreds of people a day, and facilitated a welcoming environment for both our guests and the animals we cared for Gained seniority through commitment and 2 years of work. Started off working with smaller animals such as goats, sheep, pot-bellied pigs, a llama and emu. After a few months was permanently paired with a female cow named Aretha. Throughout the day I remained by her side, inside a large paddock with other cows.
