delta COntrols
  • Managed and developed a product named the "Dual VFD" designed to ensure uninterrupted process operation by integrating a backup drive system
  • Assisted in designing a robust switching interlock circuitry for the Dual VFD unit, enhancing its reliability and performance
  • Responsible for programming a database using GCL+ to facilitate seamless collaboration between the two units, optimizing their coordination during operation
  • Programmed fault detection, wear levelling, emergency stops, and a heartbeat
  • Assumed responsibility to implement strategic measures to streamline data exchange, reducing latency, and improving overall responsiveness between the drives on a BACnet/Ethernet network
  • Authored a comprehensive user guide for the Dual VFD product, providing end-users with clear instructions for efficient utilization and troubleshooting

mmWave Fall Detection

  • The SLF Sensor project is designed specifically for senior living homes to detect falls and promptly alert nursing staff
  • Took charge of integrating a third-party product seamlessly into our smart hub, ensuring compatibility and interoperability with BACnet protocol
  • Devised a solution to process raw data outputted from the mmWave sensor and successfully integrated it into our proprietary application using Node-Red
  • Utilized MQTT, Node-RED, and GCL+ to establish a robust communication framework, enabling efficient data transfer and real-time alerts for fall detection
  • Designed an alarming system for alerting nurses
  • Created a UI for a touchscreen used for resetting alarms and displaying relevant information
  • Wrote a small python module to control the onboard buzzer and Leds on the screen through BACnet objects

Controller Redundancy (on-going)

  • This Controller Redundancy Project is aimed at implementing redundancy at both Ethernet and MS/TP levels
  • Conducted testing using Wireshark to analyze bus behavior and assess the feasibility of implementing redundancy
  • Observed token passing to determine the viability of the redundancy solution
  • Developed a specialized module responsible for seamlessly switching control, utilizing a master/slave architecture manipulation strategy
  • Ensured the robustness and reliability of the redundancy implementation by leveraging insights from Wireshark testing and token passing analysis
  • Currently, exploring the capability of Python to monitor and manage bus traffic, with a specific emphasis on its potential to read and analyze network data
  • Additionally, investigating the feasibility of utilizing Python for dynamically switching routing configurations within the network infrastructure

INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEERING PROJECTS
• Produced comprehensive control system documents, including process and instrument drawings, loop diagrams, SAMA instrument functional diagrams, instrument indexes, and specification sheets.
• Designed a P&ID for an automation process, while following ISA.
• Used PCB Solid works, Altium, and AutoCAD Electrical to design a PCB board and build a power supply.
• Used AutoCAD to design control panel enclosure and internal electronics.
• Worked with schematics to build, wire, and troubleshoot control panels.
• Programmed an automated process using PLC ladder logic and built circuits with relays.
• Made schematics of electrical circuits consisting of electrical components such as resistors, transistors, LEDS, potentiometers, capacitors, IC’s.
• Created an operating manual and wrote up technical progress reports.

DELTAV AND DCS APPLICATIONS
• Experimented with function blocks to simulate a heat exchanger.
• Designed, troubleshooted, and operated control modules.
• Used Delta V Operate to create an HMI to control a heat exchanger system.

HEAT EXCHANGER PROJECT ON DELTA V
• Designed the PID control strategies to control the water flow through a heat
               exchanger and control the temperature of the hot water output from the heat  
              exchanger.
• Created a tieback module to allow simulation of the control strategy.  
• Created a graphics display that allows operator control of the two regulatory systems based on specified operating specifications.

LIQUID-VAPOUR HEAT EXCHANGER TEMPERATURE CONTROL PROJECT
• Used HMI’s to experiment with a heat exchanger.
• Performed PI and PID tuning of the temperature loop and comparative analysis.
• Experimented with cascade and feedforward control tuning and comparative analysis.
• Commissioned a heat exchanger, executed star-ups and tested safety shutdowns of the heat exchanger, a water valve audit & flow tuning.
