Geotechnical engineer for the design of permanent rock support of 12 km of drill & blast network tunnels for the Moglica Hydroelectric Power Plant project on the Devolli River in Albania.

Specific activities:

• Conducted laboratory testing of soils to determine strength characteristics such as shear strength parameters and consolidation properties
• Contributing to developing numerical models using finite element software packages to simulate complex 3D stress fields generated due to excavation works
• Assisted in the preparation of reports summarizing fieldwork results, laboratory test data, analyses performed, and conclusions drawn from the research conducted
• Face mapping and determining of rock support of tunnels, caverns (powerhouse
  cavern 35x18x62 m, transformer cavern 18x16x12M), and shafts
• Crack and water mapping; deformation monitoring

  Surveyor, and others as required
• Assist the Resident Engineer in reporting on safety, quality control, and design modifications through the issue of Site Inspection, Technical Queries,
  NCRs (Non-Conformity Reports), and other notices
• Rock class definition using the Q-system Burton and RMR–system Beniawski
• Assist the Resident Engineer in monitoring the progress of construction against the program of works
• Monitoring of installation support elements (shotcrete, rock bolts, wire mesh, steel arches, umbrella arch, etc..) and providing recommendations for installation
