Focus on Student Needs

  • It is essential that we teach students based on their needs and understanding. Scaffolding is the basis of Mathematical growth and learning. Mastery of basic skills is one of the keys to success as our children progress through the Alberta curriculum. In turn, mastery requires regular review which facilitates confidence and a desire to learn.
  • Teamwork and sharing strategies has proved to be extremely valuable in the successes Almadina has achieved on Provincial Achievement Exams, throughout the years. As team lead for Mathematics, for many years, we benefited and developed our skills as educators. It was wonderful that each teacher shared and facilitated in the growth of our Mathematics learning and improved student achievement. It was a pleasure working with Mrs, Naroz, Mrs. Abdul Rahman and others.
  • Through experience there are areas that students find most challenging and we need to spend a little extra time to help them achieve their potential. Various strategies and teaching methods designed to meet our children's needs are a necessity.
  • I believe that children should show the steps that they took to when problem solving. In turn, teacher assessment guides the individual based on their strengths and weaknesses. Feedback and modelling the correct steps is one of the greatest tools, in relation to facilitating growth and success.
  • Success helps increase our children's' love and desire to grow in knowledge and be life long learners.
