  • As a rigger apprentice I was able to carry out a lot of responsibilities, going around different crews to be a well-rounded and knowledgeable rigger
  • Working around different category cranes including: Mobile cranes (HTC), rough terrain cranes, floater cranes, portal cranes, etc
  • Throughout my apprentice career I was able to be around hand rigging (inside rigging) crews as well, learning how to rig many motors, valves, shafts seals, fire pumps, electrical equipment (IMU’s) and other, by using proper rigging equipment including: beam clams, nylons, polyester straps, chain falls, shackles, jacks and protective equipment (chaffing gear)
  • Mastered proper hand and radio signals according to NAVFAC p-307, properly pluming heavy loads while taking boom deflection and side pull in consideration for safe lifting
  • Conducted job safety briefs using ORM’s, STOP ME program, JHA’s and best work practices, used proper rigging gear, stop point and positioning of the crane for best case scenario regarding crane capacity
  • Personally made a big part of a high work crew (Sw-1), using personnel basket on removing and installing misc
  • Antennas: Ta-can, HF-Fan wires, VHF-Stove pipe, UHF Have quick, UHF antenna (spider), UHF Ant, vertical dipole, AS-2809 (baseball bat), beer keg maintenance, SRC-598 SFWCS and many more
  • Rigged several radars, whip antennas, dome’s, SLQ’S and CEC
  • Swapped out many rigid inflatable boats (RHIB’s) from ships: 11-meter and 7-meter
  • Not to mention unmanned boats and many under water vehicles
  • Secured and installed Ready service lockers (RSL’s) and Life rafts in different locations of ship
  • Have been involved in different weight test including J-bar davit, MEE davit, side port door (LCS), elevators, cleats, accommodation ladders, capstans, safety nets, stantions, pad eyes, RAM launcher, etc
  • Been part of many different classes ship moves (arrival and departure) on the installation and removal of brow’s, vehicle ramps, shore power (berth prepped and taj-mahal), platforms and Accommodation ladders
  • Class ships: LCS, Carriers, DDG, LPD, LHD, CG, Puller-Class, minesweepers, submarine and barge
  • Prior to ships underway, I have conducted many full On-Loads containing palletized equipment (stores or parts), containers and Connex boxes (10ft-40ft)
  • Not to mention marine and aviation load outs
  • On-Loading and Off-Loading forklifts, chariots, Man lifts (JLG’s), Quad Cons, HELO blades, vehicles, white gear (sweepers etc.), MRE’s and misc

  • Conducted out of base jobs on installation of light poles, radars (roof), field scoreboards, trench shoring, electrical boxes and AC units
  • On-loaded equipment for naval amphibious base barge Seabees school: spool reels, ramp, platforms and Connex box

  • Assisted on floater crane operations to lift aircraft carrier crash crane (tilly), vehicle ramps, containers, weight testing and many port operation boats
