Annabelle Moran

I work as a part time extended day teacher and substitute teacher at the Lou Grant Parent Child Workshop in Carpinteria. Our school is an extension of Santa Barbara City College. We are a cooperative based preschool and use evidence based child development methods to work with children and educate parents. Our school is a play based preschool that fosters an environment that encourages children to freely explore their creativity and learn conflict resolution with their peers through play. Prior to working at Lou Grant I spent three years there in the role of a parent which further expanded my knowledge and skills in the field of child development.

• Developed level-appropriate lessons and activities to support skill-building needs.
• Provided community resources and education to families to increase knowledge and advocacy skills.
• Communicated respectfully and thoughtfully with parents and guardians by remaining sensitive to different families' cultures, values and needs.
• Built and maintained strong parent and student relationships.

• I have been a regular volunteer at Ventura Charter School of Arts and Global Education where my children attend.
• I have assisted teachers in the classroom starting at the kindergarten level and beyond.
• I have regularly volunteered to work yard duty which provided many opportunities to help guide children through conflict resolution.
• Ventura Charter School uses non violent communication and through volunteering I have been able to effectively learn how to put that method in to practice.

I worked as a waitress while attending college and caring for my young son.
