I am currently a registered Pharmacy Technician in Alberta. I received my full registration on January 28, 2014, after completing the bridging programs offered by the Alberta College of Pharmacy until 2015. To be eligible for the path to registration that I took, I needed to have worked 5000 hours in a pharmacy in the preceding three years. It was a lengthy and challenging process, but my passion for excellent patient care, attention to detail, and desire to streamline administrative tasks kept me going. As a single mother of two, I was working full-time while pursuing my registration. I now have a diverse skill set and the confidence to seek a position that will allow me to use my strengths in any patient care setting. With an intricate understanding of health professionals' scopes of practice, limitations, and time constraints, I believe I can offer the best care possible to any patient care setting. My ultimate goal is to connect the programs and resources needed with the people who will benefit from them. Over the years, I have trained nearly 40 new pharmacy assistants with varying levels of education and worked with upwards of 150 pharmacists from all over the world. This has given me insight into understanding why healthcare professionals with the same educational background and training have varying degrees of competency and comfort in their roles.
