Unit- Alternatives to Dentation (ATD)

  • As an ATD officer, I ensure aliens that were released are in compliance with their conditions of release and manage their cases in non-detained settings. Some of my daily duties are:
  • I manage over 600 immigration cases on an assigned docket and perform all aspects of cases from the initiation of legal proceedings to deportation from the U.S.
  • Identified aliens that met ATD criteria and enrolled them into the ENFORCE Alien and Removal Module (EARM) and the BI Incorporated GPS tracking system.
  • Prepared forms and advised the enrollees of the requirements to remain in the program and tracked their progress as they traveled across the United States.
  • Ensured that all enrollees were properly equipped with a GPS ankle monitor, SmartLink application, and informed them of their reporting dates upon arrival to their destination.
  • Coordinated with other offices throughout the U.S. to ensure that the enrollees complied with their reporting requirements.
  • Conducted routine home visits to ensure that the ATD participants are complying with the guidelines of the program.
  • As ATD point of contact for SFR ERO nationwide, officers nationwide contact me to coordinate case transfers and reporting procedures to their gaining office.

Unit- Detention

  • As a Detention officer, I was responsible for managing the detention and deportation of aliens that come into ERO's custody. Enforced immigration laws by working with local law enforcement agency to identify detainees who are incarceration within federal, state or local prison and jails. As an officer assigned to the unit, I have:
  • Ensured that all detainees, especially family units, women and juveniles, felt safe, secure and were treated humanely in accordance with local and national policies and standards.
  • Conducted deportations and removals of aliens from the U.S. and have completed numerous domestic and foreign escorts to deport aliens.
  • I conduct interviews and take sworn statements to solidify claims and injunctions of threats, in immigration law.
  • Documented, transported, deported, and escorted criminal and non-criminal aliens. Coordinated and directed with G4S security officers to secure and transport detainees, ensuring that all removal and medical files are valid for transfer.
  • I act as the liaison between ICE, contract service and logistics and Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), and ensure daily court hearings run effectively, on time and efficiently.
  • I handle on average over 15 hearing decisions a day and distribute the dispositions to the appropriate ICE personnel through appropriate official channels.

Assistant United States Attorney's Office Liaison Agent and Prosecutions Agent

Laredo Sector Prosecution Office
  • Serving as a Prosecution Agent for the Laredo Sector Prosecution Office. My role is to provide guidance and direction to Border Patrol Agents and to assist the Assistant United States Attorney's (AUSA) Office by facilitating the distribution of prosecutorial guidelines to all Laredo Sector personnel. As an integral member of the prosecution unit, my duties are to provide leadership and support on a consistent basis. Some of my daily assignments consist of but are not limited to; Reviewing and adjudicating immigrant case files to ensure accuracy, completeness, and to confirm the appropriate level of legal requirements to ensure a successful criminal or administrative conviction. Conducting investigations across a variety of databases to determine prior criminal history, immigration offences, accuracy of charges in case files, and updating the case to reflect the immigrants present status. Assisting the Laredo Sector Processing Center by initiating and screening files under the Consequence Delivery System to determine the proper classification of the immigrant. Serving as a subject matter expert and answering complex questions pertaining to criminal prosecution and administrative proceedings criminal violators.
  • Representing the United States Government in presenting misdemeanor and felony cases in U.S. Magistrate Court: Presenting high value felony cases before a grand jury for indictments, filing criminal complaints, detainers and providing the presiding judge with the most accurate information pertaining to the immigrants appearing before court. Make daily contact with the United States Attorney's Office, Federal Probation's Office, United States Marshals Office, Department of State, Immigration Customs Enforcement, and multiple Border Patrol Sectors providing and facilitating the flow of information pertinent to the Laredo Sector Prosecutions Office.

Acting Supervisory Border Patrol Agent

  • As an Acting Supervisory Border Patrol Agent, I was responsible for the execution of all station functions and operations. We operate a shift that exceeds 70 agents, and my duties were to lead, motivate, and integrate the National Strategy of the U.S. Border Patrol. I led, informed, and guided agents to enhance our border security by gathering intelligence engaged to degrade alien smuggling organizations and drug trafficking organizations. My duties also include, but not limited to; scheduling, inventory of weapons databases, checkpoint operations supervisor, and deployments supervisor. The reviewing process administrative and criminal cases for accuracy in order to ensure that all casework complies with legal guidelines.

Administrative and Training Officer

Laredo North Border Patrol Station
  • I was assigned as the Administrative Officer, Training Officer, Body Armor and Weapons/Armory Coordinator, Inventory Taker for Systems Applications and Products, PICS, and SCO at the Laredo North Border Patrol Station. As the Administrative Officer I oversaw the coordination of the station's property, maintenance, and supplies. I established a price comparison of equipment, submitted requisitions for equipment and finalized purchasing through the station's staff. As the Training Officer, I maintained and scheduled training rosters and logs in order to provide agents with current information on training and details. Attend training and meetings at the request of Laredo Sector Training Office to conduct or assigned training. As the Body Armor and Weapons Coordinator, I fitted and ordered the agents body armor. I maintained the station's armory, making sure all the equipment was serviceable for the agents to accomplish their mission. Replaced, ordered and/or sent to be serviced all sensitive items, these includes but not limited to; M-4 rifles, Night vision equipment, Shotguns, Pistols, Armor, Non-lethal equipment, and Radios.
  • Collateral Intel Agent: Collect, analyze, and integrate complex information. This information is used to develop options or logical conclusions for future and present smuggling routes and techniques used by drugs and alien smuggling organizations. Constantly use a variety of databases to identify, target, and seek out information of targeted violators.
  • Non-Intrusive Inspections Systems: I am a subject matter expert on the following systems. Vehicle and Cargo Inspection System (VACIS), Backscatter X-ray Machine (ZVV), Radiation Isotope Identification Device (RIID), Personal Radiation Detectors (PRD) and Radseeker Identifier.

Acting Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer

  • As an Acting Supervisory Detention and Deportation Officer, my duties are to lead, motivate, and ensure officers are in compliance with policies and procedures. I also oversee case management process, ensuring timely and effective detention, transportation, and removal of aliens. Deportation Officer (DO)

  • As a Deportation Officer, my primary duties are to enforcer U.S. immigration laws by identifying, arresting, detaining, and removing foreign nationals who violate immigration law, pose a threat to national security and public safety, manage cases, and ensure their fair process. As DO, I have been assigned to the following units: ATD and Detention.
  • I perform the initial review of immigration cases to determine their legal sufficiency to identify whether the cases meet the elements of a federal crime and/or administrative violation to ensure that aliens are placed under the appropriate removal proceedings.
  • I conduct legal research using various law enforcement systems such as PLANET, EAGLE, EARM, EADM, IRS, RAILS, TECS, PCQS, CLAIMS, EPSIS to help support custody decisions
  • I conduct purview walk throughs and disseminate pertinent legal and constructional information and ensure safe, fair and appropriate standards and guidelines are met.
  • I work with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to help ensure all appropriate laws and standards are enforced. I help with building professional reports amongst ICE and other law enforcement entities and help mitigate movement for warrants and court hearings.

Border Patrol Agent

  • As a Border Patrol Agent my primary duties were to apprehend terrorist and/or terrorist weapons of mass effect from illegally entering the United States. In the course of my duties, I performed but no limited to: supporting criminal investigations related to alleged or suspected violations of immigration laws, regulations, and policies. I performed investigative functions from planning and fact finding to reporting the results of an investigation. I identified aliens who may pose a threat to national security and/or public safety utilizing various methods and techniques which may include the use of intelligence, use of surveillance systems and agency database systems. I dealt effectively with individuals or groups of people in a courteous, tactful manner in connection with law enforcement matters, making prompt decisions or taking prompt actions considering applicable law procedures. I interviewed or interrogated principals, co-principals, and material witnesses in English and Spanish language. I administered oaths and /or obtain sworn statements or facts from individuals, as well as compiled data, collected evidence, and obtained other supporting information as necessary, in order to predicate a criminal prosecution of violators of illegal contraband (drugs) and alien smuggling.
  • I also obtained and served criminal and civil warrants of arrest, participated in interagency law enforcement taskforce. I initial reviewed of legal proceedings to deport violators from the U.S. or released from custody and performed armed escort of detainees from one facility to another (including medical, court and prison pick-ups); ensuring the safe, secure, and humane treatment of detainees while in custody and transport to the country of origin. I identified, disrupt, and degrade criminal organizations throughout the Laredo Sector area of responsibility. I engaged, sustained and assisted in enhancing the Border Patrol's efforts with federal, state, local law enforcement entities and communities to share information in order to accomplish a stronger workforce.
