After being a host I learned the menu well and was able to move on to being a server/bartender. Since it was a smaller restaurant I worked as a server and bartender at the same time. My responsibilities included informing the guests of any specials, seeing if anyone has an allergy or any other food restrictions, jotting down orders and ensuring the right tables get the right order. Most importantly, I always tried to ensure that the guests were satisfied by checking in.
As a host, my job was to make sure people with reservations had a free spot at all times. To see if any reservations were late, missing, or cancelling. As I host I also made sure that eacher server had their fair share of seating and to inform any server of a big group coming in.
My other duties were also to manage the waiting list, and inform the servers of any of the guests needs or requests.
