From a young age, I have always aspired to be a railroader. I have gained experience and knowledge working with rail cars, track components, CROR Rules, and proper railway communication. Canadian Pacific has captured me as a company I have wanted to work for as a conductor as it offers excellent benefits and allows me to be a supportive family man down the road. I also see myself collecting a pension from CP and I am intending a long and dedicated career.
I have been an amateur photographer for 3 plus years and have been doing video production and editing for 8 years. With theses hobbies I have gained personal knowledge about how railways and conductors work with dispatchers, foremen and of course other train crews. This includes how to read and understand signals, and signs, and elaborating the day-to-day operations of a railway conductor.
I also have 2,500 hours across 13 years of utilizing rail simulation games simulating the roles of Conductor and Engineer. Within those 2,500 hours I have done Point A to B trips, industrial switching, marshalling, and finally transfer and local jobs. I have used these and a combination of Canadian Rail Operating Rules to understand them and then apply them. I have also used the simulators to practice my signal identification and applying it accordingly.
I also play combat simulators and other teamwork based games where verbal communication and being situationally aware is crucial to winning or losing the round or even the game. Working as a team we secure objectives, and eliminate the opposing team. We also discuss strategy and how we are going to play the game, however we often end up changing the plan several times within several minutes as various events may change our attack or defensive plan.
