Multi-residential Waste Diversion Coordinator

  • Administers, co-ordinates and maintains over 500 multi residential sites within Halton Region with respect to waste collection and diversion programs.
  • Responds to requests and complaints received from the public regarding all streams of waste in regards to multi residential sites within Halton; provides front line customer service, conducts investigations , ensures that residents and buildings are in compliance with Waste collection By laws, resolves collection issues.
  • Analyzes, reviews, provides comments on all site plans submitted to the Waste Management Division and how it adheres to the Development Design Guidelines for Solid Waste. Determines accessibility and suitability for waste collection services for all streams of service.
  • Develops strong communicative relationships with all stakeholders , residents , contractors, property managers and owners, and other government agencies.
  • Co-ordinates and provides the delivery of waste diversion materials to all stakeholders when required.
  • Involved with daily operations for residential, industrial, commercial, institutional, as well as front end collection within Region of Halton.
  • Responds to waste management requests, complaints, and inquiries received from the public, and resolves them in a timely and effective manner.
  • Conducts site visits and waste inspections of various residential, multi-residential, Business Improvement Areas and commercial sites.
  • Monitors sites for contaminated waste material and compliance with the waste collection by law.
  • Investigates, develops and recommends new methods or systems that best fit the multi residential sector needs in the Region.

Waste Collection Customer Service Monitoring Technician

  • Conducted full monitoring and documentation of progressive discipline with respect to road administration duties for the residential waste collection contract to ensure all contractors comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Co-ordinate and participate in all deliveries of waste management material (green carts, blue boxes) and new start up of waste collection to new residents in new subdivisions within Halton Region.
  • Analyzes and provides comments on all site plans submitted to the Waste Management Division from Legislative and Planning Services to determine accessibility and suitability for waste collection services for all streams of service.
  • Initializes meetings with property management and full start up procedures for waste collection at the respected sites.
  • Attend weekly meeting of 'Development Application Review' where a representative from Planning, Transportation, Waste, and Accessibility are present to discuss any new site plans or get updates on previously submitted plans.
  • Involved with daily operations for residential, industrial, commercial, institutional, as well as front end collection within Region of Halton.
  • Responds to waste management requests, complaints, and inquiries received from the public, and resolves them in a timely and effective manner.
  • Conduct site waste inspections of various residential, multi-residential, school and commercial sites.
  • Speak to property managers and superintendents to find out what they have for materials and also if they require additional totes blue or green or any updated promotional material.
  • Conduct inspections of transfer stations, (looking for volumes of recycling and organics material on tipping floor and conducting inspections of contractor trucks for health and safety, also documenting material through pictures.)
  • Visited recycling processing facility (Emterra) twice a week and speak with staff regarding operations and conducting walk through of plant checking volumes of material.
  • Identify potential problems as well as evaluate the extent of problems and recommend an action plan.
  • Maintained and prepared up-to-date records, twice a week on plant operations through pictures and observations of operations.
  • Developed strong communicative relationships with multi-residential property owners, stakeholders, and contractors within Halton by visiting various new and existing sites.
  • Participates (setup of site, set up and take down of signs, pylons and promotional materials, answers any resident questions and directs traffic) in Environment Day.
  • Compost Give Away (ask residents questions based on a survey, packaged food in boxes and placed on skids). Also helped direct traffic and load compost into vehicles.
  • Attended public information open houses where I spoke to residents about waste management programs and answered any questions.
  • Rain Barrel give-away – directed traffic and helped load rain barrels into residents vehicles.
  • Co-ordinates and delivered blue totes and green totes to special events with staff, i.e. Burlington Rib Fest, Sound of Music Festival.
