Pandemic Mobilization

During Covid-19 Pandemic Response, Clinic Services leadership had to come up with multiple innovative strategies to provide services to our communities. At the end of January 2020, as LA County began to see its first COVID-19 cases, this team came up with strategies to ensure that we were providing testing for patients under investigations by creating models of testing that reduced exposures to our staff. The team developed a drive thru testing model at 3 of our health centers to provide testing for COVID-19 while patients stay in their cars. These sites have provided over 19,000 tests since they began in March of 2020 and provided a way to minimize exposures to staff by testing in an outside setting. Another example of innovation came as a result of the stay-at-home orders implemented in March 2020 which challenged the team to ensure we were continuing to provide services to our Tuberculosis patients. Our team worked to establish telemedicine appointments to provide care via an electronic platform that would allow real time communication with the provider and the patient via video.
