Grievance Officer

Teachers’ Bargaining Unit

  • Elected three times to full-time release position to represent 1100 contract and continuing education members
  • Supporting and representing members with respect to disciplinary issues and investigations
  • Writing, filing and presenting bargaining unit grievances, supporting members with Ontario College of Teacher complaints and processes
  • Consulting with Provincial Office legal counsel and services
  • Accessing mediation services for members, medical leaves, and Long-Term Disability applications
  • Lead on bargaining unit arbitration files
  • Cooperate with board Senior Management and Human Resources personnel daily to resolve confidential matters of concern, and collective agreement interpretations/violations
  • Coordinate and facilitate various workshops and training for local leaders and members on topics such TPAs, OCT, conflict resolution, personal and professional boundaries
  • Coordinate, set the agenda and Chair for the Grievance Committee
  • Three-time member of the Teachers’ Bargaining Unit Table Team for collective agreement negotiations with the employer
  • Day-to-day administration and member support for the bargaining unit as needed.
