  • Supervise on a shift basis the overall operation of the Mercator Airport Control System (MACS) control center at Base Station and take immediate decisions on matters of system problems, system outages etc
  • Co-ordinate with other departments in times of disruption and interact directly with reservations services and other departments for requirements that may be immediately required for operational purposes
  • Co-ordinate and support the management in making operational and strategic decisions by providing them with vital information
  • Monitor and ensure all flights are edited and opened with the right details (aircraft type, configuration, registration, PNLs, etc.) in conformity with EK requirements thus ensuring that through check-in and advance local check-in facilities are provided promptly
  • Plan and allocate tasks, supervise the team on duty and motivate them to provide quality service to both internal and external customers
  • Deploy extra manpower as and when required to cover peak periods
  • Coach and train staff as and when required on the various DCS/procedures thus ensuring continual development of staff and improvement in the services provided whilst monitoring staff and advising them in their areas of improvement through performance reviews
  • Closely co-ordinate with other departments in decision making in the event of a system outage and ensure the effective use of login PC/printers during a system outage to deduce the passenger figures that would help other departments in the manual execution of their activities
  • Supervise the proper execution of fall back procedures in case of prolonged system outages to maintain highest possible quality of service with minimal impact to passenger convenience and aircraft punctuality
  • Regularly monitor progress of each flight to assist subordinates in the controlling of flights thus ensuring on-time closure of flights
  • Formulate/revise respective procedures and system enhancements to resolve discrepancies/problems identified or to improve the process for better quality and productivity
  • Identify short falls areas for process improvement and provides recommendation to departmental manager
