Amar is a licensed Senior Electrical Engineer with with diverse engineering experience in the Infrastructure, project management and data center electrical engineering field. This experience includes design, analysis, and project management of multi-disciplinary public and private sector projects at all stages, from feasibility studies through to testing and commissioning.

Spearheaded the design and delivery of multiple electrical engineering projects. This work included reliable, safe, and efficient designs for clients such as Metrolinx, TTC, City of Ottawa, Port of Vancouver, Canpotex and many more.

Union Station Signalling System & Train Control System
Senior Project Engineer responsible for contract execution of the Union Station Rail Corridor Signalling System and GO Transit Train Control System by providing engineering oversight on the design, construction, testing and commissioning of the project.  Reviewed requirements in Rational DOORS and subsequent requirement verification and validation. Reviewed technical documents submitted to Metrolinx including design documents, books of plans, test procedures, derogation's, work plans, reports etc. for Owner Acceptance. Led the Quality Assurance team by managing all deviations to the project and subsequent validation of all non-conformances. Led factory/site inspections, and audits on the Contractor’s construction process.

GO Rail Expansion - On-Corridor Works

Third Party Systems Integration Engineer leading the interfaces between Metrolinx and third party entities. Direct interaction with Municipalities, Utility Providers and stakeholders in the project. Developed and managed third party interface control documents.

Surrey-Langley SkyTrain Project
Senior Electrical Engineer part of the utilities team responsible for the simulation, analysis and calculations of roadway lighting impacted by the Surrey Langley SkyTrain project. This work included lighting simulation using AGI32 software, coordination with the City of Surrey, all authorities having jurisdiction, and the project management team. This incorporated analysis and impacts to the existing lighting system, retrofitting fixtures, pedestrian access/sidewalks and roadway lighting and ensuring compliance to the City of Surrey design criteria.

Confederation Line Expansion
Senior Electrical Engineer part of the Electrical Stations team responsible for the power systems design of the Confederation Line Expansion project. This work includesreviewing and development of single line diagrams, building lighting systems, cable routing infrastructure, fire life safety systems, grounding systems and assessing EMI impact to other systems.

Centerm Expansion Project
Electrical Engineer responsible for the detailed design of off-terminal electrical installation related to power and lighting. Designed and modeled power distributionsystems that provide power to critical systems such as lighting, security and automation of the terminal. Modeling included arc flash analyses, short circuit calculations and protection coordination studies.

Electrical Enabling Works, Union Station Rail Corridor (USRC) Signalling and Train Control Improvement Program
Electrical Engineer responsible for the design and construction of three 1000kVA substations to supply power to the safety critical signalling system within the Union Station Rail Corridor. Responsibilities included development of: design drawings; specifications; cost estimations; risk analyses; availability calculations; grounding design; lighting; equipment sizing calculations; commissioning; testing and Contractor oversight. Included in all stages of testing and commissioning of electrical substations, this included review of all breaker settings, wiring methods, and code compliance checks.

Air Canada Operations Centre Hot Site (OCHS)
Electrical Engineering Specialist responsible for the electrical design and drafting for the Operations Centre Hot site located in 2135 Convair Drive, including backup UPS power supply for the facility, power supply and distribution system upgrade, communication cable trays/conduits, lighting and grounding.

Automatic Train Control (ATC) Standard Specifications Update
Electrical Engineering Specialist responsible for preforming revisions to a range of Standard Specifications to provide a comprehensive set of updated performance based Standard Specifications for WMATA’s Automatic Train Control (ATC) System.

GO Transit Train Control Centre Datacenter and Backup Facilities, Metrolinx, Toronto, ON

Lead Senior Electrical Engineer for the Technical Consultant team providing electrical engineering oversight throughout the specification, bid support, and Engineering Management of the design, construction, testing and commissioning of the GO Transit Train Control System data centre and Business Resumption Backup Centre. This included the concept design, detailed design, construction support and final project close out. Reviewed project specifications, Metrolinx Requirements and Contractor Submittals for Contract Compliance/robust system.

Lead Electrical Engineer responsible for preforming revisions to a range of Standard Specifications to provide a comprehensive set of updated performance based Standard Specifications for WMATA’s Automatic Train Control (ATC) System. This work included revisions to all Electrical specifications including lighting, cabling, power, grounding, cable trays, communications and electrical distribution.
