2nd year 2nd placement: Feb 8 - April 6 2022, TBRHSC - 2C Cardiac & Stroke (128 hours)

- Medication Administration – Prepare, administer, and document oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and IV medications under supervision
- IV Therapy & Monitoring – Observe and assist with IV therapy, including setting up, monitoring, and documenting fluid administration.
- Specialized Procedures – Assist with catheterization, NG tube insertions, and wound care for surgical or complex wounds
3rd year 1st placement: Nov 7 - Nov 29 2023, TBRHSC - 1A Maternal Newborn (120 hours)

- Maternal Assessments – Monitor vital signs, fundal height, lochia, and pain levels, and assess postpartum recovery.
- Newborn Care & Assessments – Perform newborn assessments, including APGAR scoring, weight, measurements, reflex checks, and monitoring jaundice.
- Medication Administration – Administer medications for mothers (e.g., pain relief, antibiotics) and newborns (e.g., vitamin K, erythromycin) under supervision.
- Breastfeeding & Feeding Support – Assist mothers with breastfeeding techniques and bottle-feeding, ensuring proper latch and positioning
3rd year 2nd placement: Jan 11- Jan 26 2024, TBRHSC - 2C Cardiac & Stroke (120 hours)

- Patient Assessments – Perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments, including cardiac and neurological evaluations (e.g., Glasgow Coma Scale, NIH Stroke Scale)
- Cardiac Monitoring & Stroke Care – Monitor telemetry, interpret cardiac rhythms, assess stroke symptoms, and provide post-thrombolysis care
- Charting & Documentation – Complete detailed charting, including assessments, medication administration records (MAR), care plans, and progress notes using electronic health records (EHR)
3rd year 3rd placement: Jan 31 - Feb 15 2024, TBRHSC - Adult Mental Health (80 hours)

- Mental Health Assessments – Conduct mental status exams (MSE) and assess mood, behavior, cognition, and risk for self-harm or suicide.
- Medication Administration & Monitoring – Administer psychotropic medications (e.g., antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers) and monitor side effects, including EPS (extrapyramidal symptoms).
- Therapeutic Communication – Use active listening and therapeutic techniques to build trust, de-escalate crises, and support emotional well-being.
- Care Planning & Behavioral Management – Develop care plans focusing on coping strategies, relapse prevention, and crisis intervention.
- Charting & Progress Notes – Document assessments, interventions, patient progress, and responses to treatment
4th year 1st preceptorship: Oct 23 - Nov 30 2024, St Joe’s - 2 North (216 hours)
