Nanaimo Correction Center Think Tank

  • A group of individuals who work on initiatives to help people who are incarcerated navigate the criminal justice system, find housing, make positive choices and implement new strategies towards rehabilitation
  • Works on multiple projects including creating a pamphlet educating individuals who are incarcerated on the processes to apply into post secondary education and acquire funding and creating a website of Resources for people upon release back into the community. These resources included mental health supports, medical supports, housing, AA groups, outreach programs, and employment opportunities for individuals with criminal records.
  • This group is inspired to give individuals a second chance in their community, while helping them rebuild relationships with the people in their lives and help them get the supports they need to succeed, while actively having people who are incarcerated in attendance, sharing their experiences, and incorporating their strategies to succeed into the work we do.


Criminology Students Association (Co-President, 2023)

  • A group of students inspired to create a strong sense of community within Vancouver Island University.
  • This group plans multiple events to increase student engagement, connections and positive peer relationships
  • Works with the Dean, Chair and all Professors of the Criminology Program to ensure that all events promote positive peer relationships, by helping individuals build skills they will need in their careers and meet the educational needs of the department.
