Peace Over Violence - Los Angeles, CA

Trained trauma informed advocate providing emotional support, advocacy, information, and referrals via the 24-hour L.A Rape and Battering Crisis Line. As a counselor Advocate, I also responded to designated SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) centers located in hospitals and law enforcement agencies to provide immediate crisis intervention services and support to sexual assault and domestic violence survivors. I provided direct services to survivors via the 24-hour hotline through my extensive knowledge and training on sexual assault, domestic violence, child sexual abuse, intimate partner stalking, and other topics relating to violence.

As an Master of Social Work student intern with Silverado Beverly Place Memory Care some of my duties consisted of engaging residents in various therapeutic activities designed to stimulate cognitive function, memory, and motor skills. These activities included reminiscence therapy, music therapy, art therapy, and cognitive games. I also observed and documenting changes in clients' behaviors, cognitive function, and physical health as the information was vital for the healthcare team to adjust care plans accordingly. Structured routines for clients were maintained to provide clients a sense of security and familiarity in their daily lives.
