  • EPCOR Aerial Transmission has added a variety of new learnings to my already exciting journey as a lineman. Over the past three years, I have mastered operating telehandlers and Manlifts, framing and working with fiberglass poles and hardware.
  • I have navigated EPCOR's power system components, such as WEB DMD, FIELD CLIENT, and GNET, to name a few.
  • I have familiarized myself with EPCOR's Aerial procedures through the procedures application. With this new influx of learning, I'm confident in being efficient in everyday duties, such as switching and live line duties, without supervision. I pride myself in being self-starting and motivational to others in positive endeavors.

My current tenure of three years at "Head Office Construction" has comprise but not limited to, building large distribution overhead and underground powerlines. Mastering tools of the trade such as operation of digger, aerial lifts and tension stringing equipment. A rotation with Vegreville Transmission maintenance group for two years and six months encompassed new duties such as:

  • Maintaining Atco transmission wood poles and tower lines, employing new learnt skills such as, "A-Step helicopter support work, (working on energized 500kv and shield ground wire while hovering from helicopter and transferring to and from helicopter to and from steel towers and wooden poles)."
  • Helping to develop work plans to achieve safe and cost effective outcomes.
  • One month practicum work with Atco networking group, this tenure revolved mainly around programming and upgrading network switches for communication equipment on power systems.
  • Transmission switching from remote and local apparatus.
  • Tension stringing and termination of optical ground wire.
  • I had a brief introduction to Bare hand live line work and stick work up to 144kv.

At ATCO Electric Bonnyville, I prided myself in, building, maintaining, improving and assisting in the restoration of faulted sections of the power system in a safe, efficient, and fashionable manner while fulfilling my commitment to training apprentices to be world class Journeymen. Whenever tasked, I lead a team of four full time employees, successfully planning and fostering completion of construction and maintenance projects. Preparing time sheets and day sheets and making changes to Single Line Distribution (SLD) for approval as per new build and system alterations. Avidly taking on new roles and responsibilities as the society and job evolved. My five year tenure encompassed field duties such as extensive rubber glove work up to 25kv, ranging from:

  • Installing load break switches between vertical and horizontal circuits.
  • Structure conversions.
  • Creating and retiring mid span openings.
  • Pole replacements.
  • Installing and retiring risers for electrical apparatus.

Tasks included extensive underground work inclusive of:

  • Installation and switching of underground switchgear.
  • Termination to a wide range of underground switchgear.
  • Reading and interpreting technical prints.

  • Volunteer Fire Fighter with "Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority" December 2015-May 2018. This position and the training involved complimented the development of excellent time management skills and discipline. It has also improved my public safety awareness, my hazard identification and community relation skills.
  • "Epic Champion" for two consecutive years 2016-2017 and will continue to aid with this charitable organization for years to come as my services are required.
