Child Support Worker/ Crisis Counsellor

  • Reporting to the Director of Programs and Staff, the Child Support Worker supports the mother’s parental role during her stay at Women In Crisis and provides childcare for non-residential clients as needed during counselling sessions or crisis walk-in sessions.
  • Provide individual and group support for both mothers and children on the effects of abuse and violence on children/youth according to age.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.
  • Collaborate with the Crisis Counsellors in providing services for children and youth, to maintain excellent communication regarding issues and/or concerns related to the children.
  • Reporting to the Director of Programs and Staff, the Women’s Shelter Crisis Counsellor works with women who have experienced gender-based violence. The Crisis Counsellor provides consistent, comprehensive support and advocacy, including crisis intervention, goal planning and counselling to shelter residents, crisis line callers and walk in services users.
