When I was a Waiter, I would scout outside and answer phone calls that want to place pick up orders or deliveries. I would also prepare tables for dine ins and reservations.

Being a Food Preparation Worker was my main job and I would do things like pack raw food for freezing, prepare our barbecued into the fridge, and cut up cooked meats in specific sizes that we needed them. When it wasn't busy outside and no orders were coming in, I spent most of my time preparing foods.

As a Chef Assistant I would grab the prepared supplies for the Chef's while they were working and prepare any containers or plates that they were intending on placing the food on.
