As an E&T worker I assist in supporting adults who receive public assistance achieve their goals through education, job skills training, employment, on the job training and providing job seeking skills. Assist individuals address barriers that include but are not limited to mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence and legal issues. A plan is built to meet the client's needs with a commitment of the household required hours unless client is exempt from participation.
As a Family Services Representative information is gathered through interviews, references, by verifying personal and financial information to maintain a open/active public assistance cases. Additional responsibilities include providing resources to clients, making clients appointments, following up with enrollees to determine eligibility, and interacting with agencies to learn about services and changes to programs.
Being placed in the Housing Support Program I also assist families that are currently homeless with giving them tools and assistance while looking for permanent housing. These duties may include seeing client in the lobby, phone housing search follow ups, and assisting my client workload with housing resources and leads.
While on the Foster Care team I assisted to ensure monthly payments were sent out to families providing care for children in their home under foster care supervision. Went over court documentation and noted case on decisions made at court hearings. I reviewed cases to make sure these clients in foster care had active medical insurance contacting billing agencies who have sent these families bills for care of the foster child when it should have been covered by their insurance.
