Summary

Experienced scientist with a PhD in Psychiatry specializing in patient-reported outcomes (PRO), clinical outcomes assessment (COA), and implementation science. Skilled in developing and validating tools for evaluating patient-centric outcomes, I have a proven track record of collaborative work across functions, leading randomized controlled trials, and implementing strategies that incorporate measurement science into clinical development. With expertise in instrument development, data capture, statistical analyses, and evidence synthesis, I am seeking a role to utilize my strong analytical and communication skills to ensure that the patient voice remains central to drug development processes.

Work History

Postdoctoral Fellow

McGill University
01.2020 - Current
  • Led a randomized controlled trial (RCT) evaluating the efficacy of the WHO Caregiver Skills Training (CST) program, overseeing the statistical analysis plan, ethics submission, data capture, and both the quantitative and qualitative analyses of patient-reported outcomes (PRO)
  • The trial reached 80 families and is being analyzed to assess for improvement in caregiver-reported outcomes related to distress and empowerment.
  • Collaborated on international projects in Japan and Malaysia, focusing on the integration of clinician-centric outcomes into healthcare systems for building capacity to serve children with developmental disabilities.
  • Contributed to the Québec 1000 Families (Q1K) initiative, developing an ethics framework and data management system for the Open Science neurodevelopment database. Collaborated with clinicians, researchers, and coordinators to ensure the integration of patient-reported and clinical outcomes into the database.
  • Played a key role in synthesizing research findings for the WHO-UNICEF Global Report on Children with Developmental Disabilities, contributing to global policy recommendations on integrating patient-reported outcomes in developmental care.
  • Key Achievement: Successfully integrated PRO measures into four community settings in a nationwide RCT using REDCap, accelerating data capture and quality.

Research Assistant/PhD Student

McGill University
01.2012 - 01.2020
  • Pioneered research on family engagement in biomarker discovery, focusing on integrating family feedback using statistical modeling, including regression and principal component analysis, towards improving the clinical utility of genetic and eye-tracking assessments for autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
  • Led the development and validation of two novel patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and adapted one existing PROM within clinical workflows in two hospitals.
  • Collaborated with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, researchers, and families, to ensure that patient-reported outcomes and other patient-centric measures were rigorously applied.
  • Key Achievements: Developed and validated two novel PROMs and advanced one PROM with 200+ patients.

Skills

  • Patient-Centered Outcomes and Clinical Outcomes Assessment (PRO/COA)
  • Ethics Frameworks & Submissions
  • Measurement Science & Evidence Synthesis
  • Publication Strategy & Communication
  • Data Management, Analysis & Statistical Modeling (SPSS, REDCap, Regression, Principal Component Analysis)
  • Instrument Development, Validation, Psychometrics

Accomplishments

  • Collaborated with team of 3-5 people in the multiple projects namely in designing and implementing a nationwide RCT that reached 80 families, in creating an open science database that has recruited 200+ participants (Quebec 1,000 Families), and in launching clinician training programs reaching 200+ clinicians internationally.
  • Achieved a 50% increase in data accuracy and efficiency by introducing REDCap for data capture across all initiatives, streamlining the collection and management of patient-reported outcomes and clinical data in both clinical trials and observational studies.
  • Reduced ethics approval turnaround time by 33% through proactive collaboration with ethics boards, ensuring clear communication of study objectives and patient-reported outcome measures in submissions and by streamlining the submission process for PRO-related studies.
  • Enhanced compliance with ethical guidelines by developing a comprehensive ethics framework for the integration of patient-reported outcomes into studies, which was adopted by 8 different research/health institutions.
  • Improved data security and participant consent processes by implementing a robust data management system using REDCap.
