Summary

I am an Early Childhood Educator offering over 10 years of experience working with children under the age 5. I have years of experience working in different play-based settings. In my position as a Parenting Journey Home Visitor I am able to work with families in a home-based setting where I am able to help support parents through a number of different social-economic stressors and coach them through parenting skills they struggle with with a concentration on building their skills in relationship-building with their children to help increases the children's social and emotional development and decrease unwanted behaviours. Through my years of experience I have gained a love for working with children who have special needs with a focus on those who struggle socially and emotionally. It's something I was able to connect with personally having a son who was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 5. Becoming a mother was something that added to my skill set greatly. I was able to have real empathy for all families and their different make-up's and was able to use that to create a professional and non-judgmental relationship with them. This helped me create an environment for the children entering my care that felt safe, secure and welcoming. I put high value and importance on the social and emotional well-being of children as I think this helps sets them up for the most success. I take extra care to create individual relationships with the children in my care keeping in mind they all have their own individual needs. I love connecting with the children's families and helping them connect with community around them to support their children in the best way possible. Becoming an aware, and responsible individual is important to me. I value on-going learning and growth on racial, cultural and community needs.
