At present I work in the Mental Health Unit as a Mental Health Officer at Kent Institution. My role as a Mental Health Officer consists of running a pro-social therapeutic group where the offenders have a safe space to work on various activities and hobbies that improve their mental health . Before accepting my current position in mental health I worked in the programs department as a Social Programs Officer. My role largely consisted of acting as a liaison between offenders, staff and community partners. Prior to pursuing a career with the Correctional Service of Canada, I worked in the medical field for 16 years as a Medical lab assistant/phlebotomist performing blood draws and Electrocardiograms as well as electronically processing samples and specimens in the accessioning area of the lab.
