  • I designed and implemented a new data pipeline that significantly streamlined the report generation process for Bioinformatics team. The existing process relied on R Studio for report generation, which was time-consuming (around 10 minutes per report) and required Bioinformatics team to write SQL queries.
  • I designed a new architecture with DuckDB as Database which stored data in parquet format - an efficient columnar storage format for large datasets. Additionally, we also created APIs using FastAPI in Python to access, process and supply data from DuckDB.
  • The new pipeline significantly reduced report generation time to milliseconds. The API eliminated the need for bioinformatics team to write queries, making data more accessible. Moreover, the API also facilitated data access for the machine learning team, enabling them to build models on the bioinformatics data.
  • Developed a customized Dashboard using React which provided Bioinformatics researchers with a more interactive, intuitive and informative way for an optimized visualization of their data using various modern React components.
