Project 1- Prince County Hospital

Objective:

  • To develop and implement a tamper-proof window locking solution enhancing the security and safety within the hospital premises.

What:

  • Came up with a magnetic locking system designed to provide a secure and permanent solution for window locks at Prince County Hospital. The project aimed to replace conventional locking mechanisms with a modern, tamper-proof system to ensure the highest level of security for hospital facilities, preventing unauthorized access and enhancing patient safety.

How:

  • Prototyping and Testing- Developed prototypes and conducted rigorous testing to ensure reliability, durability, and tamper-resistance under various conditions. Adjustments were made based on feedback to optimize performance.

Results:

  • Successfully installed the magnetic locking system on time and within budget, securing over 500 windows across the hospital complex.

Project 2- Abegweit Biodiversity Enhancement Hatchery

Objective:

  • To design and implement an automated feeding system that overcomes the challenges posed by high humidity, ensuring consistent feed quality and distribution across the tank while reducing labor.

What:

  • The project's goal was to automate the feeding process, which was hampered by the hatchery's high-humidity environment. This environment made it difficult to maintain feed quality and achieve even distribution manually, necessitating a solution that could ensure optimal feeding conditions with minimal human intervention.

How:

  • Prototyping and Optimization- Built a prototype to test in the hatchery's environment, making iterative adjustments based on real-world performance data to optimize feed distribution and quality maintenance.

Results:

  • Enhanced feed quality maintenance, with the system's design effectively combating humidity-related degradation, thus promoting healthier growth conditions for the brook trout.
  • Ensured even feed distribution across all tanks with placing the feeder in the middle of the tank also managed quantity of feed through out programming LCD screen using an Arduino UNO, leading to more uniform growth rates among the fish population and optimizing the hatchery's output.
