I have built all of my time at Rise Air, operating medevac and charters in Northern Saskatchewan. I have gained a new appreciation for the remote areas of this province, and I am excited to build a similar familiarity with other areas around the world with Air Canada. I have updated this resume with my current hours as of September 27, 2024.
This is a medevac operation based in La Ronge, Saskatchewan helping people in remote areas get treatment when the local facilities aren't suffiecient. We have 12 hour shifts during which we are "on call" and must be airborne within an hour of getting a call. Once we are flying more calls will come in and sometimes plans change so planning "on the go" and making decisions on the fly are important skills to learn. This is a good first job for first officers so as captain you are also responsible to help train and monitor these brand new pilots as they develop the skills they will use for the rest of their careers.
Rise Air has their 1900's based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan filling multiple roles including charters, scheduled flights and occasional cargo hauls. Besides regular flight duties the first officer is responsible for flight planning, giving the safety brief for the passengers and other customer service duties like loading and serving commisary before the flight and helping load and unload the passengers bags. As first officer I also tried to make a special effort to answer passengers questions and inform them of any delays or changes to the flight.
This was my first pilot job based in La Ronge, Saskatchewan providing medevac and occasionally charter services to Saskatchewan. We trade Pilot flying duties every other leg between the captain and first officer. As first officer I was also responsible for the flight planning and customer service duties including the safety briefing and loading passenger bags. During Medevac we often have plans change while we're already out, sometimes destinations will change while we're in the air so quick planning is a necessity.
As a customer service agent I was primarily a check in agent at the Saskatoon terminal to assist passengers flying on our scheduled flights to Saskatchewans Northern communities. Besides regular check in duties, we also were responsible for the weight and balance fo our Saabs, assisting in loading the bags on the plane and helping passengers board the plane.
